Anonimo has a new take on celebrity endorsement in new brand patron, Dino Zei. Zei is a
living icon for many watch collectors, not as a watchmaker but as the man who came to
embody one of the most sought-after names in the field: Panerai. With his graduate degree
in Industrial Engineering and background as a weapons officer in the Italian Navy (a
career that culminated in him occupying the double position of Head of Weapons and
Explosives for the Navy Commandos and Head of Ammunition at the Institute for Weapons),
Zei had all the right credentials to join Panerai e Figlio, which was engaged in special
projects for the Navy. Building on the growing reputation in that field, it was Zei who
restarted watchmaking at Panerai, and later sold that business to what is now the
Richemont Group.
Zei revealed that he has been working closely with Anonimo founder Federico Massacesi to
develop new designs and generally show his support for Florentine watchmaking. QP
