The Portuguese Chronograph
Another IWC icon, with a notable air of timelessness, is the IWC Portugieser Chronograph. The name of the watch can trace its origins to two Portuguese businessmen who sought a wristwatch capable of matching the accuracy of a marine chronometer. In 1939, the very first IWC Portuguese model was released and the name has since become legendary.
The beauty of the Portuguese Chronograph is evident with one glance. The simple bi-compax layout is easy to read and the styling remains appealing, despite the onset of years and changes in fashion.
The watch is available in an array of case and dial options. The 40.9mm case diameter and 12.3mm height make the Portuguese Chronograph suitable for a myriad of wrist sizes and, by avoiding excessive scale, the watch should continue to offer lasting eye-appeal.
