The Rolex GMT-Master Pepsi debuted in 1954, developed by Rolex in collaboration with Pan American World Airways for pilots needing dual time zones. Its distinctive red-and-blue bezel—nicknamed after Pepsi—allowed easy day/night tracking. Early models like the ref. 6542 used fragile Bakelite bezels, later replaced by aluminum in the ref. 1675, which ran from 1959 to 1980. In 1982, the GMT-Master II introduced an independently adjustable hour hand. Aluminum Pepsi bezels were discontinued in 2007 but returned in 2014 with ceramic on a white gold model.
