Felipe Massa first raced in the Singapore Grand Prix in 2008. He started on pole and led early on, but a pit stop error and a drive-through penalty dropped him to 13th place. The race is also infamous for the “Crashgate” scandal, where Nelson Piquet Jr. deliberately crashed to help Fernando Alonso win. This event influenced Massa’s 2008 championship run, which he ultimately lost to Lewis Hamilton by just one point. In 2025, Massa began legal proceedings to be recognised as the 2008 World Champion, and the case is set for trial in 2026.
