The olive green dial is one of the most distinctive modern Rolex Day-Date dials. It was introduced with the Day-Date 40 reference 228239 in white gold in 2016, as part of Rolex’s 60th Anniversary of the Day-Date celebrations. This model features the updated Calibre 3255 movement, offering a 70-hour power reserve, improved accuracy, and Rolex’s Chronergy escapement. The olive green dial, with its sunburst finish and white-gold Roman numerals, provided a subtle but striking alternative to the brand’s traditional colors.

Rolex has historically used green sparingly, associating it with exclusivity, which made the olive dial stand out in the Day-Date lineup. Unlike other colored dials, the olive tone was exclusive to precious metal models.
