Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar 5059J
Patek Philippe Retrograde Perpetual Calendar 5059J-001. 37mm diameter, 18ct yellow gold case with turban-style crown. Self-winding Calibre 315/236 movement, signed with the Geneva seal, 30 jewels. White matt dial with Roman Numeral hour markers; day, month and leap-year indications in windows. Moon phase (lunar-calendar) display at the 6 o’clock position. Blackened gold, feuille-style hands, give brilliant legibility; continuous, central seconds hand.
Retrograde (fly-back) date-hand indicates the date over a 240 degree arc (between 8 o’clock and 4 o’clock) with a 31-day scale. The hand automatically moves at midnight to the next date until it reaches midnight on the last day (28th, 29th, 30th or 31st) of the month when it jumps back to the 1st of the next month. This fly-back function is unique to Patek’s retrograde perpetual calendars.
The sapphire-crystal window of the exhibition case-back is covered with an ‘Officer-style’ 18ct yellow gold hinged cover which can be flipped open to reveal the spectacular movement beneath. Patek black alligator strap with 18ct yellow gold Patek deployant clasp featuring a signature Calatrava Cross fastening.
This is a wonderful opportunity to acquire one of Patek Philippe’s loveliest perpetual calendars with design features reminiscent of officer’s watches from the early 20th century. It is RARE. Complete with Patek Philippe outer box, inner Winder box and Certificate of Authenticity dated November 2006, together with Patek Philippe service papers dated 2016.
