White dial with applied luminous orange hour markers and luminous hands, orange outer graduated numeral markers with orange lightning second sweep. Polished steel bezel. Steel Oyster lock bracelet. The Milgauss model is a very recent re-introduction of a model originally designed in the 1950`s in response to a demand for a highly resistant watch to anti-magnetic fields. The movement is protected by an inner antimagnetic protection up to 1,000 gauss. Box and Papers dated April 2008.
Introduced in 1956, the Rolex Milgauss was designed for professionals exposed to magnetic fields, like scientists. Its name, “mille” for thousand and “gauss” for a unit of magnetic flux density, highlights its resistance to up to 1,000 gauss. Initially overshadowed, it gained popularity over time. The iconic lightning bolt seconds hand and distinctive orange markers set it apart. Discontinued in the late 1980s, it was reintroduced in 2007 with enhanced antimagnetic features. The Milgauss blends scientific functionality with Rolex’s timeless design, appealing to collectors seeking a unique and historically significant timepiece that thrives in demanding environments.
