Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer II 1655, the iconic orange hand “Steve McQueen” This was produced between 1971 and 1984, this example was from the first generation produced in 1971 indicated by its “straight hand” second sweep, the later generations had what where later referred to by collectors and enthusiasts as “lollipop hands” our Explorer as was often the case stayed in the Rolex dealers stock for years as various models often did, and this at the time wasn’t perceived as particularly desirable hence the actual selling date on the original invoice of 1977, the price then was £258.00.
